I walked into a Bistro

on a pleasant summer’s eve,

I saw a pretty lady with a smile that pleased

Sitting at a table waiting

oh so patiently

She just ordered dinner;

takeout to go,

anticipating a good meal

from this quaint Bistro

I walked up and asked, is there anything you need?

She said, “I think this is the same place my folks used to eat”

They lived here many, many, years ago

in this sleepy little town they called Tupelo

They spoke so fondly of this special place,

this lovely Bistro,

so I stopped in for a bite,

just to say hello;

Ha, ha, I smiled and replied, well,

I hope so, what a fine thing to say

I’m vOz, so nice to meet you,

are you having a good day

She smiled and nodded,

“I am,” she said,

from Jackson town, Mississippi,

born and bred
